Our Journey
LoPair Cultural Exchange (杭州乐培文化交流有限公司) was founded in Hangzhou in 2011, built on a simple belief: real cross-cultural understanding happens through shared daily life. Our founder, Michael Xie, experienced this firsthand as a high school exchange student in Japan, and that experience shaped everything that followed.
What began as a China-based agency for the U.S. au pair program has grown into a multi-program cultural exchange organization. We've placed over 1,000 Chinese au pairs with American families through our exclusive partnership with Au Pair in America, and over 1,000 international youth students from 25 countries with families across 15 Chinese cities. Since 2012, we've organized U.S. high school study tours to China; since 2020, online tutoring and virtual internships connecting overseas talent with Chinese companies; and in 2026, we launched our newest initiative—the China E-Commerce Internship Program in Hangzhou.
Fifteen years on, our team is still built by returned participants and internationally trained professionals who have lived the exchange experience themselves.
Safety First
Every host family and host company is pre-screened before placement. Comprehensive insurance is arranged for all participants. 24/7 customer support via WeChat groups for both participants and families.
Mutual Match
Interview with multiple families/hosts to find the best fit. Participants are free to make their own informed decision. Rematch support is available at all times after mediation.
Personal Service
A dedicated local coordinator living in your city provides on-the-ground support across all programs. A 1-on-1 mentor is assigned to each participant upon arrival. For homestay programs, an in-person home visit is conducted within 72 hours of arrival, with regular check-ins every 30 days.
Education & Growth
Weekly Mandarin classes during the academic semester through our partner universities. Pre-departure webinars and ongoing academic support. Study with recognized universities in China for quality education.
Beyond the Classroom
Guaranteed personal time for rest and exploration. Local coordinators organize regular hangouts and cultural events for participants to connect and explore.
